ON THE ISSUES
SUPPORT THE BRAVE MEN & WOMEN OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
As a former Sheriff’s Deputy, Matt knows the challenges that our law enforcement officers face daily. He also understands that they make our communities safer.
Our police officers and first responders willingly put their lives on the line to protect us and our families. As Senator, Matt will defend these American heroes from dangerous proposals such as defunding or disbanding our police departments and work to increase funding for salaries and training to ensure our departments can recruit the best and justly serve our community.

BACK OUR VETERANS & ARMED FORCES
As a veteran himself, Matt knows the challenges those who served our country face when they look to reenter society.

Matt will expand job and career training opportunities for our veterans and their spouses. Those who have served our country deserve the best benefits possible as they rejoin the workforce. From healthcare to retirement to
education, Matt will fight for the benefits veterans earned.

In the Virginia Senate, Matt will be an advocate for employment, childcare, and deployment support for spouses of veterans as well.

ENSURE A QUALITY EDUCATION FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION
As a father, Matt believes every child, regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status, deserves a quality education.

He will fight for the opportunity for every student to have the education he or she deserves in a safe and protected environment.

Matt will advocate for improved pay and appropriate benefits for our teachers and support staff, who have more and more responsibilities placed on their shoulders each year.

College must also be more affordable, and there should be more opportunities for the many young Virginians choosing to attend community college or trade schools instead of a four-year university.

PRESERVING OUR GREEN SPACE
When my wife and I chose to move to Reston, we did so because of its beauty and uniqueness. The trails, the lakes, the village centers, and the green spaces make Reston a great place for our family and community.
As your Senator, I will work to preserve our community and its natural beauty.

-
I will work with local leaders to ensure we stick to Reston's original Master Plan of thirteen persons per acre.
-
I will support efforts that preserve our Green Space.
-
Ensure the comprehensive plan for Reston National Golf Course is not revisited.
-
Work with stakeholders to ensure our cyclists and motorists promote a safe environment to reduce accidents.
